Are you entitled to Legal Aid?

Are you entitled to Legal Aid?

From April 2013, there is no legal aid for advice from family solicitors or help going to court (except in very limited circumstances) but... LEGAL AID IS STILL AVAILABLE FOR MEDIATION so, if you qualify, the whole process will be free for you.

That means there will be no charge to you for:

  • The Information and Options Meeting (MIAM)
  • The mediation sessions and all the related paperwork
  • Your eligibility also entitles you to free advice from a lawyer alongside the mediation

If you want to find out whether you might qualify for legal aid please click here.

Your mediator will always carry out a full legal aid assessment for you at the Information and Options Meeting. For a list of documents you need to bring with you click here.

Helpful and cost effective

Although the separation/divorce process is painful, mediation actually focuses on the practical and legal aspects in a neutral way

An overall positive experience. Well done on a great company and service
